Role:  Organic and Fairtrade Cotton Secretariat (OFCS) – Program Manager

About OFCS

The Organic and Fairtrade Cotton Secretariat (OFCS) is a multi-stakeholder convening platform that was instituted in 2014 by C&A Foundation and its partners. OFCS was created as a space for stakeholders from acrossthe value chain of organic cotton to deliberate on the challenges and opportunities for the sector,collaborate, and take collective action for a thriving organic cotton sector. 

OFCS partners include, amongst others, Action for Social Advancement, WWF India and Solidaridad Asia. With its growing mission and scale, OFCS is now looking for a dynamic personality as OFCS Program Manager to continue to develop its roadmap and execute its programs and activities to achieve its key objectives. Which are:  

·         Acting as an umbrella body for various actors of the organic cotton sector

·         Representing a collective voice from the organic cotton sector at national and international forums

·         Combining knowledge &resources and joining forces to drive the development of the relevant frameworks forward such as Seed and Bio-inputs.

·         Facilitate dialogue with key stakeholder to recommend changes in state/national policy framework to foster the organic cotton production in India.

·         Influencing and collaborating with policymakers to drive OFCS’s mission forward toward the suitable policies that benefit the farmers, and

·         Representing in relevant industry platforms to drive the OFCS agenda

As an OFCS Program Manager you are an independent personality and an ambitious person that can effectively manage and convene stakeholders from the organic cotton sector, and:

Your responsibilities will be to:

Manage Operational Matters such as managing institutional documentation, managing current members of OFCS, and continuing to grow membership base, continue to strengthen its procedural guidelines, fundraising for OFCS activities and events, gain more grants to expand OFCS’s work at the national level, convening the Board Meetings and manage the relationships with the secretariat and the trustees.

Manage OFCS key Programs as the Lead Program Manager for the granted projects by reputed Indian Organisations to OFCS in the areas around regenerative agriculture, organic seed, and bio inputs sector development. You will be the face of OFCS to grantee organisations, responsible for the program understanding, execution and implementation to manage its timeline, deliverables, and resources with the support of Secretariat and external resources if required.

Manage Communications and Outreach for OFCS by continuing to build and manage its current network of relationships with Government departments, public research and academic institutions, private sector stakeholders, manage its Working Groups, plan, and operationalise its events, meetings, and seminars to create desired influence and move agenda forward within India. 

 

 For this role, you will need:

·         At least 8-10 years of work experience in Communications /MSI Management or a similar role

·         Should have knowledge of organic farming/practices

·         Passion and commitment with excellent communication skills with the ability to drive and manage the programs and outreach independently

·         hand on experience in Program and Project Management and delivery

·         Willingness to travel at least 25% of the time

·         Fluency in English and Hindi

·         Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ability to operate and hold online meetings

·         Great managerial and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work in diverse situations, environments, and contexts

·         Excellent time management, documentation, and resource management skills

·         At last, and most importantly: self-disciplinarian, self-driven and motivated individual who doesn’t wait for the instructions to act!

 It would be great if you also have:

·         Graduate/Master’s in Business Studies/ Communications / MSI Management/ Agriculture or Administration

·         Experience working with NGOs or an MSI set up

·         Prior experience in program management, delivering events, convenings, and conferences successfully

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The role of the OFCS Program Manager will be a full-time consultant role on contract based in Gurgaon, Haryana, with the ability to work remotely/from home
